Basic Dog Obedience

Obedience is the foundation of all training, and will be built upon down the road at more advanced stages. Here at New Sentry, all basic obedience is done on lead and consists of the following behaviors:

  • Sit
  • Down
  • Stay
  • Come (Here or Recall)
  • Heeling
  • Door Entry/Exit
  • Basic behavioral issues such as your dog jumping up on you or others

Most critical of these behaviors is the “come” or “here” command which teaches your dog to return to you while engaged in other activities.  This command may one day save your dog’s life.  A dog that slips their lead can be gone in the blink of an eye off to chase whatever may interest them, and come face to face with a car or other potentially deadly situation.  Here at New Sentry K9, we teach this behavior in a fun, engaging way that will have your dog racing to you as fast as he can.  It is good peace of mind to know that your dog will come back to your in a serious situation.

Moving on from basic obedience, we move into more advanced training.
